NHL Stanley Cup Finals: Game 7 Penguins vs. Red Wings – LIVE BLOG

Posted by tvjunkywright on June 12, 2009

game7

One game, one win, one Stanley Cup.

It’s every hockey fans’ dream, a game 7 to decide who will win it all! And TVDoneWright.com will cover the game with a LIVE BLOG!

Follow along hockey fans. Who will win it all? The Pittsburgh Penguins or the Detroit Red Wings.

(7:30 pm): Well folks welcome all to the PRE-GAME blog! I’m Adam “TV Junky” Wright, and thanks for reading.

For some info on me, I’m a Colorado Avalanche fan, but for tonight I’m cheering for the Red Wings. Oh, and I’m Canadian. Go ahead, send the emails telling me that’s screwed up.

(7:34 pm): Miroslav Satan in, Petr Sykora out for the Pens tonight.

(7:40 pm): CBC talking about Hossa not having a goal yet in this series. How bad do you think he wants to win this.

Hossa left the Pens after last season for Detroit to win the Cup. Now he meets his former team in a Game 7. Seems like a Hollywood script doesn’t it?

(7:50 pm): Here’s a stat for you all. The home team is 6-0 in a Game 7 since 1971. Can the Pens break the tide?

Remember the last game played in Detroit was Game 5, when it ended 5-0 for the Red Wings.

(7:55 pm): CBC just playing highlights of the Game 7 in 2001 when my Avalanche won it all! So nice to see…. don’t cry Adam…you’ll be back there some day.

(7:56 pm): Sit down interview with Sidney Crosby. NHL’s poster-boy… yet can’t grow a playoff beard! For shame.

Seriously, fellas, remember when you first started shaving at the age of 12,  and there was patches left here and there. THAT’S what Crosby has right now.

(8:00 pm): Minutes away from the players going onto the ice folks. Who here is excited!

Writer’s note: I’ll be alternating between CBC and NBC throughout the night.

(8:06 pm): For those who know me, I’ve been hard on CBC this series because of their intos. One game they had Coldplay (Zzzzzzzz)….and the next they had a Genesis-less “In The Air Tonight”. Awful.

But tonight, they had Don Cherry with a squid, plus the song “I Wanna Rock & Roll All Night”. Finally great intro by CBC.

(8:09 pm): The players get on the ice! Watching NBC now until the first intermission for those keeping track.

(8:11 pm): Lidstrom of the Red Wings is being interviewed by Pierre “MONSTER” McGuire. Swear to God, the man must drink five Red-Bulls before each game. Colour commentary to the max!

(8:15 pm): FACE-OFF!!!!

(8:16 pm): One minute in, and  Dan Cleary of the Wings almost scored. Detroit putting the pressure on early.

(8:20 pm): Wow…all Detroit early on. The Pens really look nervous. Men among boys.

(8:23 pm): First commercial break. Well that was all Detroit there. The Pens really look bad early on. Can’t keep the puck out of their zone, losing the races to the puck. Things better change quick, or this game will be over quick.

(8:25 pm): Muhammad Ali in the house! How awesome is that, wearing a Red Wings jersey too.

(8: 27 pm): There we go, a scoring chance for the Pens. That was close off a lucky bounce. Still mostly all Wings so far.

(8: 30 pm): Half-way through the first period, it’s been aggressive Wings so far.

(8:33 pm): First penalty of the game goes to Brad Stuart of the Red Wings. Power Play for the Pens.

(8:36 pm): The Pens are trying hard on this Power Play, but couldn’t score. Still no score in this game.

2 shots for the Pens in the P.P, for a total of 5. The Wings have 4 shots.

(8:39 pm): Looks like the Pens have waking up. Welcome to Game 7 guys!

(8:40 pm): How bad is this new Verizon commercial. This guy says he doesn’t need a new phone with all the gadgets, and his two friends are trying to pimp out  their new phone with crap he doesn’t need.

(8:42 pm): McGuire just used the word “perculate”. You know what that means folks….drink up your coffee!

(8:44 pm): A bit more than 2 minutes left in the first period. Good chances on both sides. Still no goals.

(8:45 pm): Maltby (Wings) ROBBED by Fleury (Pens)! Nice glove-save.

(8:47 pm): Pens on the attack! Wings just blocked a nice shot.

(8:48 pm): The end of the first period! After a slow start by the Pens, they are fighting back now. Shots on goal, 10 for the Pens, 6 for the Wings. Game still 0-0.

For the intermission, I’ll be watching Coach’s Corner on CBC with Don Cherry.

Send me your comments. What you all think of the first period?

(8:52 pm): Only Don Cherry can get away with wearing that PINK suit. Wow… my eyes burn. THANKS HD!

Nice, they’re showing the intro again. CBC knows when they get it right…they need to milk that baby!

Sing along… I WANNA ROCK AND ROLL ALL NIGHT…AND PARTY EVERY DAY!

Anyone…?

(9:00 pm): I would like to take this moment to remind everyone that Kings returns to NBC Saturday night! But you wouldn’t know it cause the network hasn’t advertised it! Nice job NBC!

Kings tomorrow night!

(9:06 pm): Alright folks, second period face-off!

(9:07 pm): SCORES PENS!!!!! After a turn-over, Maxime Talbot scores to make it 1-0 Pens.

(9:09 pm): Now we have two penalties! 4 on 4 for two minutes.

Way faster face early in the 2nd period.

(9:13 pm): Wow…both sides just made HUGE saves. Fleury poked-checked one, and Osgood stopped a breakaway.

(9:15 pm): Crosby hurt folks! He was slow to get back to the bench. Gone to the dressing room.

(9:16 pm): Now a power-play for the Red Wings. Wow…things are getting bad for the Pens. Hopefully for them Crosby comes back soon.

(9:17 pm): Crosby’s left leg was what got hurt. He needed help to get to the dressing room. Bad news for the Pens.

(9:20 pm): The Wings are having trouble to get organized during this power-play.

(9:22 pm): Crosby still not back to the Pens’ bench.

(9: 23pm): SCORES!!!! 2-0 PENS!! Maxime Talbot does it again on a 2 on 1. Talbot’s 2nd goal of the game

(9:25 pm): The Wings just can’t beat Fleury! They are trying.

(9:28 pm): “He’s gonna be back for sure” the Pens’ coach said about Crosby. He said it was his mid-section that was hurt.

(9:31 pm): I for one am SHOCKED the Wings are down 2-0. The shots are 17-12 for the Pens. And Crosby STILL isn’t on the ice.

(9:34 pm): Holy crap, I just realized they didn’t air the National Anthems. That’s odd.

(9:36 pm): Helm tried to hit Malkin, but got the worst of it. Looked like he hit a brick wall!

By the way, there’s been a crazy amount of offside calls.

(9:39 pm): Fleury save!!!! Wow… “Sometimes the Hockey Gods just aren’t with you” McGuire says. I agree. Fleury been on fire tonight for the Pens.

(9:42 pm): One minute left. A surge by Detroit for the past few minutes, but nothing going in. Save after save by Fleury.

(9:43 pm): Another HUGE save by Fleury to close the second period. They are hanging on to that 2-0 lead!

2-0 Pittsburgh after two periods. The shots are 17-16 for the Pens. Talbot with 2 goals.

(9:49 pm): Reader “Danie” informs me that my excessive explimation points means in a Pens fans at heart. Sorry Danie… just trying to match Pierre McGuire’s intensity. (!!!!!)

(9:54 pm): On the rumour mill… Chris Pronger to LA?

(9:55 pm): Dear McDonalds, it’s summer…we don’t want to hear damn Christmas songs! Not loving it.

The Philanthropist looks like an awesome show, but it’s on NBC so I’m weary it will survive. Can you tell I’m sour about Kings.

By the way Kings returns Saturday!

(10:00 pm): Looks like the Pens will have Crosby back in the 3rd period. I think I hear Gary Bettman singing “I’m bringing CrosbyBack…Yeah!”

(10:02 pm): 3rd period is on! Pens lead 2-0. Crosby is back. And…here’s the puck drop.

(10:04 pm): Wings are more desperate to score than a teenage boy on prom night! (I’m here all night folks)

(10:06 pm): Wings go on a power-play! Crosby hasn’t played yet, but he is on the bench.

(10:07 pm): Fleury shutting it down. Wings are really trying out there, but they just can’t score.

(10:09 pm): Pens did a great job killing this penalty. Back to even strength.

(10:12 pm): Wings are look like they’re tired. But they are still pushing.

(10:14 pm): 10:25 left in the 3rd period. Still 2-0 Pens.

(10:15 pm): GRILLED Chicken at KFC? BLASPHEMY! It’s suppose to be deep fried and finger-licking good, like God meant it to be!

(10:16 pm): The Stanley Cup is being polished folks. Crosby is now on the ice.

Oh…he’s back off.

(10:18 pm): The G.I. Joe movie looks BRUTAL! And no I don’t mean brutal in a good way, I mean BRUTAL. I’m talking Ghost Rider BRUTAL.

(10:20 pm): Crosby looked in like he’s in alot of pain when we went back off the ice. Don’t think he’ll be back on the ice…until they raise the Cup. (Oooops, did I jinx it?)

(10:22 pm): The Wings look like they are running out of gas.

SCORES RED WINGS!!!  The lead cut to 2-1 for the Pens.

(10:25 pm): 5 minutes left, the Wings down by one. They are pushing for that tying goal.

3:23 minutes left! Save after save by both sides!

Thank God for commercial break. Time for the heart to slow down…

Take a deep breathe everyone.

(10:30 pm): CROSSBAR! So close for the Red Wings!

(10: 31 pm): 1:17 left! 2-1 Pens!  Heart Rate….around 129 !

Timeout called by the Red Wings.

The Wings have pulled their goalie

(10:33 pm): Offisde called. 32 seconds left. 2-1 Pens.

(10:35 pm): 16.1 seconds left. Faceoff near center ice, the net is empty for the Wings.

(10:37 pm): 6.5 left!

SAVE!!!

PENS WIN PENS WIN.

Ladies and gentlemen, the Pittsburgh Penguins are the 2009 Stanley Cup Champions!

(10:38 pm): What a story here. They beat their demons. They beat the team lost they to last year in these Finals.

Redemption for the Penguins.

(10:40 pm): Now we await the announcement for the winner of the Conn Smythe Trophy for the Playoff MVP.

And the winner is…

Evgeni Malkin from the Penguins.

(10:44 pm): And here comes the Stanley Cup!

Sidney Crosby becomes the youngest Captain to hoist the Stanley Cup.

(10:45 pm): As the players take their turn hoisting the Cup, there closes the 2008-2009 NHL Season.

And it closes TVDoneWright.com’s LIVE coverage of Game 7. Thank you all for following along. Feel free to comment on the game.

See you all next time for the big event.

“House”: The World’s Most Popular Show?

Posted by tvjunkywright on June 12, 2009

dr_house_01

Looks like everybody loves the cranky doc.

It was announced that the FOX hit-drama “House” was the most popular show in the world!

That’s according to ratings agency Eurodata TV Worldwide, who report that medical drama gets more than 81.8 million viewers in 66 countries. Those numbers surpass by far previous winners CSI and CSI Miami.

What do you all think? Is the Hugh Laurie drama worthy of most popular in the world?

“Law & Order: SVU” Keeping their ADA, Stephanie March Will Return

Posted by tvjunkywright on June 12, 2009

stephmarch

As we wait for the decisions of Mariska Hargitay and Chris Melony, we don’t have to wait to see who the ADA will be on SVU next season.

Stephanie March, who plays Alex Cabot, will be returning next season to Law & Order SVU. However, she will only be playing ADA for part of the season. The show is still looking for another ADA to fill in her spot.

March returned to SVU this past season after a hiatus.

Meanwhile, we still wait for the two biggest stars. The clock is ticking, but it does appear that Hargitay and Meloni are close to signing.

NBC’s top rated scripted-drama will be moving to Wednesday nights at 9 pm ET (Thanks Leno!) in the fall.
