Al Roker Deserves a Medal! Sticking It To Heidi and Spencer Pratt

Posted by tvjunkywright on June 15, 2009

heidi-montag-al-roker

As a journalism student, I have a whole new respect for Al Roker of the NBC Today Show.

This morning, he has the task of interviewing two of the most annoyingly hated people in America. Fresh off their on-and-off again stay in the jungle of Costa Rica on the NBC reality show “I’m a Celebrity…Get Me Out of Here”, the couple known as “Speidi” made their media run stop on the Today show.

After an introduction video of their high(low)lights on the show, Roker opens up with “There are some who say you two are everything that’s wrong with celebrity in this country”.

Amen Al!

The punches kept coming, unfortunately, only metaphorical punches. Come on, who wouldn’t want to punch Spencer in the face!

Here’s the painfully awkward interview.

Report: Heidi and Spencer Quit “I’m a Celebrity…”

Posted by tvjunkywright on June 2, 2009

Heidi and Spencer

Just one day after the premiere of the reality show, it has been reported that Heidi and Spencer have walked out of “I’m a Celebrity…Get Me Out of Here”.

The newlyweds of the MTV series “The Hills” have reportedly quit the show after just one episode, TMZ reports.

The reality-show debuted at #1 last night for NBC, which pins “celebrities” up against each other in the jungles of Costa Rica.

It is unknown how the show will address their departure during tonight’s episode. NBC will be airing the series four night a week until the end of the season.

2009 MTV Movie Awards – LIVE BLOG

Posted by tvjunkywright on May 31, 2009

andy-samberg

Welcome folks to tvdonewright.com’s LIVE BLOG of the 2009 MTV Movie Awards.

Feel free to follow along as you watch this award show hosted by SNL’s Andy Samberg.

Before the show begins, here’s a look at tonight’s nominees.

For the latest updates, refresh your browser. (Times in Eastern Standard Time)

8:50 – Welcome to all the readers! We are 10 minutes away from show time. I’m all set for a long night of blogging. Thank God for coffee. I’m hoping we see a live performance tonight of one of Samberg’s SNL Digital Shorts.

8:56 – Just finished King of the Hill (Yep!). Now turning it to MTV. The Hills season finale just finishing up.

8:59 – Closing credits just finished. Show time coming! Here we go folks…

9:00 – Samberg opens the show by recreating the poop scene from Slumdog, then it turns into a scene of Twilight (Yes, he’s still covered in poop). Now he’s talking to Kate Winslet from The Reader. Before he gets to get lucky with her, he gets beemed by Star Trek (you following? lol). He’s now beamed into a limo…with Justin Timberlake (of course!)

9:04 – Samberg makes his way to the stage. He reminds us the rules. Rule #1, it’s ok to fart. Check! Rule #2, no punching. Damnit! I thought you were cool Andy.

9:08 – After saying not to punch anyone, Andy begins rapping. Grrr… I wish that rule wasn’t there.

9:10 – Anna Ferris and Chris Pine are presenting the award for Breakthrough Female.

And the winner is…. Ashley Tisdale for High School Musical 3. Please let this not be a sign of things to come later…

9:12 – Transformer’s Michael Bay and Megan Fox preview their new movie. Fox is looking way too thin (scary!)

9:15 – For those watching on MTV Canada, you need to  suffer through to watch their analysis. At least they agreed on Tisdale.

9:19 – Reader “N” asked me my pick for Best Movie. I think Dark Knight SHOULD win, but I’m afraid Twilight will win. We’ll see…

9:20 – Hey look at that, back from commercial, and Andy reminds us to vote for Best Movie! Great timing.

Shiela Lebouf (spelling?) is out to present the award for Best Fight.

And the winner is…. Twilight? They beat the fight scene between Batman and Joker! Come on…

The star of Twilight thanks his stunt double. Yeah…thanks!

9:25 – The cast of The Hangover introduces Eminem. Great to see him back.

What’s up with this, the crowd is dead. I guess a song mocking celebrities wasn’t the best choice for tonight.

The crowd got more lively during the other songs, but not much.

9:29 – Commercial break #2. Feel free to send me your questions folks.

9:33 – Reader Alex, I totally agree!

9:34 – Samberg joins us with a song called “Cool guys, and explosions”. Will Ferrell joins him. Funny stuff!

J.J Abrams on keyboard!!!

9:36 – Andy tests the crowd and says “Twilight”. A high pitch screams ensues… “I won the bet” he says. Thanks Andy.

9: 37 – Breakthrough Male is next. Crap there’s a Twilight nominee… two actually.

Yep, Twilight wins again, Robert Pattinson.

A funny moment, before introducing the award, Jonas Hill was telling a High School Musical girl that he auditioned for a part in the movie, “But failed the pubic hair check” LOL!!!

9:41 – Another commercial break. Apparently the Twilight cast can’t stay on camera for large amounts of time. You know, because of the lights… Anyone…anyone?

9:43 – “Bruno” flies on stage (Yes, FLIES). Lands ass first in Eminem’s face. Eminem is now leaving LOL. He looks pissed and really left! Looks like someone wasn’t warned he was going to make an ass out of…

9:45 – Zack Efron won best Male performance. Yes, High School Musical… To recap, High School Musical won two, Twilight won two.

9:47 – The cast of Harry Potter introduced a preview of their next movie.

9:50 – Another commercial break. I wonder if they convinced Eminem to come back.

By the way, reader “Mayhem”, thank you it’s a tough job for someone has to do it!

9:54 – Sandra Bullock and Ryan Reynolds will present “Best Kiss”.

Bullock says two of the nominees are “mono-mono kisses”, so she tells Ryan if he wants to be nominated, he should kiss a dude. Ryan looks at her and says “But I kissed you!” BURNNNN!

And the winner is… Twilight. Anyone shocked? Anyone? The Twilight couple teased to kiss as the fans (high pitch voiced fans) screamed.

10:00 – Jim Carey asks Andy if he would be performing one of his Digital Shorts. There we go Jim, that’s what we want!

Leann Rimes comes out to sing “Jizz in my Pants”. Not quite what we expected.

Forrest Whitaker comes out to sing “Dick in a Box”. Ok, the only payoff here is Timberlake to come out and do “Mother Lover”…are we gonna see it?

10:03 – No Timberlake. Wow…that whole thing was awkward.

Hayden Panattiere and some other guy introduces the WTF Award. Amy Poehler won. The people censoring this show must be having FUN, that segment was full of “beeps”

10:07 – Best song from a movie is introduced. Crap, Twilight is nominated!

Well Twilight finally loses, but Miley Cyrus wins for Hannah Montana. For the record, Slumdog is 0-3 tonight….that’s sad!

10:09 – Scenes from the new Twilight movie aired… (Cue the thousands DVRs going on rewind dozens of times). No wait…it’s Andy Samberg in a Teen Wolf skit!

After the clip, Andy says the REAL Twilight clip is coming after the break. (Again, cue the DVRs).

10:12 – During the MTV Canada update, they reported that Eminem stormed out of the building pissed! Looks like he’s got some new material for a new song.

10:16 – Andy introduces the stars of Twilight (AGAIN). They introduce their first preview of their new movie. Hey, they reminded us to TiVo it! Are they reading this blog too?

10:18 – Ben Stiller is given the MTV Generation Award. A montage of all his movies plays. Looking at this, he’s had some very good, and very bad performances/movies.

10:21 – Zack Efron, Kiefer Sutherland, and Trimph the Insult Dog introduce the award to Stiller. Yes, Efron and Sutherland on stage together. No, there’s no torturing or ass-kicking going on.  Where’s the Jack Bauer we know and love damnit! Can we atleast get a head-butt?

10:25 – They are still going… This is painfully long. They are spoofing what they did at the Oscars where they go one by one and kiss ass praise the nominee.

10:27 – Ben FINALLY makes it to the stage after that long introduction. Wouldn’t Kiefer know better than anyone that every second counts?

10:29 – There’s a skit with Andy and his friend playing a Sega Genisis version of the movie “Doubt”. “What a horrible idea for a game” they say.

10:33 – Special thanks to Reader Alex for posting a clip of the Bruno/Eminem incident. Check in the comments to see it.

10:34 – Cameron Diaz and her co-stars come on stage to present the award for best Female performance.

You guessed it, Kristen Stewart wins for Twilight. Why does she look so pale by the way?

10:37 – The cast of G.I. Joe movie introduces a performance by Kings of Leons.

Again, the crowd seems dead for this performance. By the way, this is one of the highlights of the show tonight.

10:42 – After the performance, we get another commercial break. Last chance folks to say who you think will win Best Movie.

10:44 – Reader “N” thinks Eminem will be back. I don’t know man… it didn’t really like being made an ass out of. Alot of bad mouthing went on.

10:46 – Will Ferrell and his Land of the Lost co-star come out to present the Best Comedic performance award. Is this night nominated? HA!

Anyways… here’s one award Twilight can’t win! So that’s good news, right?

The winner is…Jim Carey for Yes Man. Kinda surprised he beat James Franco for Pineapple Express. The MTV crowd IS really changing I guess.

Carey is speechless, but good thing we hear his thoughts (Yes, really).  He finally says “There wouldn’t be the Swine Flu if we treated pigs better” lol.

10:52 – I think this will be the final commercial break

I’m not sure about the readers in the U.S, but in Canada it cut to commercial just as they were introducing the award for Best Villain that went to Heath Ledger (R.I.P, we miss you man).

Did it cut out in the U.S too?

10:57 – Denzel Washington to introduce the Best Movie Award.

And the winner is….

Well the way this night has gone, no surprise Twilight wins Best Movie. They beat out Slumdog, Dark Knight, High School Musical 3 and Iron Man.

10:59 – Andy closes the song. No Eminem…sorry reader N.

Well folks, I want to thank you all for following along here with me. It was painful, yet fun.

Feel free to keep the conversation going and post comments. What’s your favourite moment of the night? Upsets? Praises? Rants! I know you all have rants!

Goodnight folks.

Here’s a quick-list of tonight’s winners

Despite rumors of the contrary, MTV has announced the renewal of its hit show The Hills.

The show was in doubt since the word that series star Lauren Conrad will be leaving the show. However, the network has signed Audrina Patridge to a new deal to appear in episodes next fall.

MTV has also announced the renewals of Run’s House, Rob Dyrdek’s Fantasy Factory, Nitro Circus and America’s Best Dance Crew.

NBC Names “Celebrities” For New Reality Show

Posted by tvjunkywright on April 24, 2009

nbc_logo_

Summer is approaching, and that means the networks will be scrambling to find shows to fill their schedules. NBC today has announced their “Celebrity” (using the term loosely) line-up for their new reality show “I am a Celebrity, Get me out of Here”.

The reality show will send these celebrities on an island in Costa Rica where they compete in a “Survivor”-style competition.

Here’s the line-up:

  • Stephen Baldwin, actor
  • Janice Dickinson, former model
  • Sanjaya Malakar, former American Idol finalist
  • Heidi Montag, The Hills star
  • Spencer Pratt, The Hills star
  • John Salley, former NBA player
  • Torrie Wilson, former WWE Diva

The show orginally wanted to add former Illinois Governor Rod Blagojevich to the cast, however a judge did not grant him permission to travel to Costa Rica. Blagojevich, who was impeached from office, is currently facing Federal charges from corruption.
